Stent For Fibreglass Rods

The nature of fibreglass rods means they are constructed with thicker butt sections, what this means for the rod builder is the need to use a larger reel seat insert that can be bored out to fit the bigger butt, for instance on our Ogawa range of blanks you would need to use hardware and insert in the 4 to 6# range, for some this isn’t an issue.

If you preferred to use smaller hardware a stent would need to be fitted, a straightforward job by removing the same length of reel seat from the lower butt section of the blank and epoxying in the stent, this would protrude the same as the length of butt removed.
