The Sea-Guide Hoard

Running a busy operation like Fortitude Rod Co is full on and we have to prioritise our time, customers orders are the first thing we deal with followed by enquiries, alongside this we manage the stock, update the website, build rods, do the accounts, seek out new products and a lot more.

After this years BFFI I wanted to dedicate an area and shelving purely to all the thread  we now stock since adding the full ProWrap inventory to our catalogue, where the shelving was to go was a few odds and ends and two large boxes that hadn't been properly looked in since we purchased the stock from the Fly Rod Workshop. Going through the box there we're some old rod socks, rod building tools, books and another box with Sea-Guide written on it, I'm not sure how it was, missed but it was. Opening it up and the box was rammed with guides, LBG and XQG stripping guides, single foot, snakes and tip tops with both small and large loops in hard chrome, and the exceptional Sea-Guide 'Adaman' proprietary PVD finish! After checking through all the individual bags there is over 10000 guides in total, with the stock of Sea-Guide we already had that takes us to about 15000 guides on hand!

How do the compare!

The shape, consistence, foot prep, and the finish, the finish is exceptional I believe Orvis now use Sea-Guides on their top end rods, the foot finish isn't quite as good as Snake Brand guides but they are a third cheaper. Sea-Guide tip tops have a round loop similar to the Snake Brand ones and they are very good.

With this huge stock on hand the Sea-Guide strippers, tip tops and running guides will now have their own website listing as will PacBay, we'll also be putting out Sea-Guide guide sets too, these are very good guides with an exceptional finish for all fishing applications including salt water, well worth considering on your next rod build!
