Kimono silk

Very fine (100 wt) premium Japanese multi-filament 2-ply silk perfect for barely-there low build translucent guide wraps.  

200 metre spools (enough for about 3 rods) available in a range of vibrant colours, plus raw undyed for translucent wraps (#374 Mikimoto)

If you are used to nylon or new to rod-making you may prefer to use medium-fine 50wt silk, listed separately.  50wt is about the same diamater as standard 'A' nylon and is a bit stronger and quicker to wrap with than 100wt silk.  It is also easier to transition over guide feet whilst still giving a low build wrap.

We also stock a limited range of colours in 30wt silk, similar to C nylon and suitable for heavier duty rods #8+

Silk will go translucent and darken with application of epoxy or varnish.  Guide feet will be visible and the colour of the blank will show through lighter silk colours.  To retain the solid colour as it appears on the spool you will need to use colour preserver, or use colour-fast nylon instead.
