TSH blanks are made from uni-directional S-glass, a higher strain and faster recovery fiberglass almost identical in modulus to cane, with a helical wound S-glass scrim for improved hoop strength and faster blank recovery.
Taniwha S-helix series of fibre glass fly rod tapers are specified to our requirements, refined through several prototype testing stages. They are made by a designer whose early career included designing high performance fly rods for a well-regarded New Zealand brand before establishing his own advanced composites manufacturing facility based in China. They offer excellent performance, and first class fit and finish at a very reasonable price for this quality.
Model description
A crisp, medium glass action, a little fuller flexing that our 764 and 805 models with a power level and tip sensitivity best suited to stream and small river fishing applications at short to medium range, where delicacy and accuracy is paramount e.g. dry fly and light-medium nymphing and duo rigs (beads 2-3mm). The #4 and #5 TSH 4-piece models have a slightly faster/tippier action.
Available colour: olive translucent, gloss clearcoat finish. Ferrules are tip-over-butt (not spigots).

A wonderful review from one of my customers…. Finally got this little beauty out on the water... A Taniwha 7'9" 3-weight S-Glass paired perfectly with a Sage Click and Guideline Fario CDC WF3 - and honestly, it's everything! hoped it would be. From the very first cast it just loads and flows. Smooth, forgiving, and ridiculously enjoyable to cast at short to medium range - exactly what you want on tight water. The feedback through the blank is spot on, and when even a small fish takes... wow. Proper bend, loads of feel, and that deep glass flex that turns even modest fish into pure fun. I finally got to fish it on a small Eden tributary, chasing grayling - and it absolutely came alive there. Delicate presentations, effortless roll casts, and total control in close quarters. This rod just belongs on small streams. Big smiles, bent glass, and a setup I won't be putting down anytime soon..
