Reverse half wells 7" carbon fibre fly rod handle, uplock or downlock

Woven carbon fabric over urethane foam core. An interesting alternative to cork that is comfortable to hold with good grip, and as light as cork.   Much easier to ream than cork if required to fit your blank diameter.  If you are buying a blank from us we will do this for you (but not otherwise).  The handle can be used 'as is' or coated 'smooth', preferably with a 2-part urethane or polyurethane marine grade varnish and dried on a rod turner.  

Handle available with no inlet for downlock reel seats, or inlet 20mm for uplocking reel seats.  The inlet can easily be enlarged (by you!) up 22mm maximum by careful hand sanding.

Fighting butt available with no inlet for uplocking reelseats, or inlet 20mm to accommodate a reverse mounted uplocking reel seat (see pictures).  

Please note that downlocking reel seats are unlikely to fit without custom modification

20mm inlet fits the following reel seats: Lemke LC1, LC7, LC10; Struble U20; Seaguide SUL1, SUL2; the Traditional 'medium'.

Blanks of up to 1mm diameter less than 8.5mm butt diameter may be fitted with a gap filling gel epoxy or polyurethane glue using plasterer's drywall fibreglass mesh tape to 'pack' the gap and to centre the grip on the blank. We suggest buying a black winding check to cover the gap.
