9’ #8/9 Taniwha intermediate modulus carbon fibre fly rod blanks (4-piece)

Taniwha fly rod blanks are carefully constructed tapers from a designer whose early career included designing high performance fly rods for a well-regarded New Zealand brand before establishing his own advanced composites manufacturing facility based in China.  These blanks offer excellent quality fit, finish and performance at a surprisingly reasonable price.

The TIM 9' #8/9 is a powerful, midle-tip-flex fast action blank suitable for heavy duty reservoir and lake angling including sinking line applications, and pike or saltwater fishing with fly lures up to 5-6”.   Suitable for shooting heads in the 240-280 grain range (16-18g).

The blank uses tough intermediate-modulus, IM8 30 ton uni-directional carbon fibre pre-preg wrapped on a helical carbon fibre scrim for improved hoop strength and tracking.  The blank is unsanded for extra durability with a gloss clear coat.   The ferrules are tip-over-butt style and ground matt finish for a precise fit.  A cosmetic trim wrap is suggested to cover the ground edge of the ferrules (see listing photos).
