Taniwha fly rod blanks are carefully constructed tapers from a designer whose early career included designing high performance fly rods for a well-regarded New Zealand brand before establishing his own advanced composites manufacturing facility based in China.  These blanks offer excellent quality fit, finish and performance at a surprisingly reasonable price.

The TIM 10' #7/8 is a powerful, tip-flex fast action blank suitable for heavy duty reservoir and lake angling including sinking line applications, singled-handed salmon and seatrout fishing and shore fly casting (fresh or salt). 

The blank uses intermediate-modulus IM8 30 ton, uni-directional carbon fibre pre-pregs wrapped on a helical carbon fibre scrim for improved hoop strength and tracking.  The blank is unsanded for durability with a gloss clear coat.   The ferrules are tip-over-butt style and ground matt finish for a precise fit.  A cosmetic trim wrap is suggested to cover the ground edge of the ferrules (see listing photos).
